Club Sessions

Tuesday / Thursday Evenings

There are normally 3 options to choose from -
General Run - We offer a ‘general’ run on a Tuesday and Thursday night from Wodson Park – we meet from 7.00pm to run around 7.30pm. These general runs are usually around 10K and you will find runners of varied paces going out on these
'Muster Run' - In addition there is a ‘muster run’ of around 5/6 miles which tends to be at a ‘steady’ pace
Coached training session - There’s also the option of joining in a structured coached session which is designed to work on your endurance, speed and all round fitness. Please see our diary to check what the next coached session is
All of these options are designed for ALL LEVELS OF RUNNING ABILITY. There will always be the option of running a shorter distance in the general run or doing a bit less in the coached sessions. If you are not sure which session to join in with please see one of our committee members at the registration table who will help you decide and buddy you up with another runner

Sunday Morning

Sunday runs are by arrangement only but members are welcome to park and meet at Wodson from 9 a.m. Please check on Facebook for any prearranged Sunday runs

Other Sessions

We also offer ad hoc sessions and workshops on fitness and strength and posture etc. Keep an eye out for these at club announcements, on the club noticeboard and via our Facebook page

Parkrun

Many of our club members take part, organise and volunteer in local Parkruns. These are 5K runs every Saturday morning at 9. Our most local ones are at Westmill near Ware, Panshanger Park, Hertford and Barclay Park, Hoddesdon. Please visit www.parkrun.org.uk for further information. If any of your children want to get into running there are junior parkruns for them. To find out all about these please visit - www.parkrun.org.uk/events/juniorevents/

Fees

You are welcome to try out Ware Joggers free of charge for the first 3 times but we ask that you join as a full member after that. Please see our membership page for more details. After this we pay 50p for coming to the club and an extra 50p to take part in a coached session (coached track sessions are £3 all in)

Trainers / Kit

Club kit is available to buy through our kit manager Sarah Berry. She can be contacted via email or is regularly at club sessions. You will need a club vest or T shirt if you want to participate in any club races. Sarah also has hi-viz vests which you can buy for night running

Although we can’t officially recommend a shop for you to buy your running shoes, it is a good idea to get a gait analysis when trying new trainers. Ask your fellow joggers where they’ve been and they will have some practical suggestions!

Races

Ware Joggers runs a Club Championship in which runners compete in local races of varying distances. The race schedule is set by our Race Secretary each year and is available to view on the website, noticeboard and on regular FB updates. The distances reflect the abilities of all runners. Full training tips are available from our coaches and in our experience there’s not much out of anyone’s reach if you train in the right way and build up your fitness and distance sensibly. Please see a full list of guidelines on the Championship page or contact our Race Secretary for further information.

There are of course lots of other races all around the country and you can also wear club colours (the club vest or t-shirt) to run non-championship races. Awards are given at the end of the season for significant achievements. Please see full details in the Races section of our website
