New to Ware Joggers? You’ll fit in fine.

Starting with a running club can feel like a big step, especially if you are not sure how fast you need to be, who you will run with, or what happens when you turn up.

Ware Joggers has members aged from 17 to over 80, with everyone from newer runners through to national representatives.

You do not need to be fast. You do not need to know anyone. You just need to be willing to turn up.

No need to be fast

We welcome a wide range of abilities, from newer runners to experienced racers.

No one gets left behind

Group runs include regular mustering points so the group stays together.

No booking needed

Once your membership is approved, you can turn up to advertised sessions.

Your First Session

Once your membership application has been approved, you can come along to any advertised session. There is no need to book in advance.

  1. Join online through MemberMojo.
  2. Watch for session details in the members-only Facebook group and WhatsApp broadcast.
  3. Choose a group that suits your pace, distance or session preference.
  4. Turn up and introduce yourself.
  5. Join in. Sessions are briefed beforehand, so you will know what is planned before you start.

Still unsure? Contact our Members’ Representative at members.rep@ware-joggers.co.uk and we’ll point you in the right direction.

How Our Runs Work

Tuesday evening group runs

Advertised by pace and distance, so you can choose a suitable group. Runs include regular mustering.

Sunday morning group runs

Advertised in advance by pace and distance. A good way to build consistency and get to know members.

Track and training sessions

Structured sessions designed to suit different abilities. Everything is explained before you start.

Races and championships

Optional, but a big part of club life for many members. Race as much or as little as you like.

What If I’m Not Fast Enough?

This is one of the most common worries new members have.

You do not need to be fast, you do not need to have raced before, and you do not need to know anyone.

Runs are organised so members can choose an appropriate pace and distance. Training sessions are designed so different abilities can take part together.

Beginners are supported. Improvers are challenged. Experienced runners are pushed. Everyone has a place.

What to Bring

For most sessions, you just need suitable running kit and trainers.

  • After sunset: hi-vis clothing and a head or body torch are essential for road running.
  • Track sessions: the track is well-lit all year round, so hi-vis and torches are not needed.
  • Trail shoes: useful in winter, especially for off-road routes, but not essential when you are starting out.
  • Water: optional, but useful if you prefer to carry it.

Hi-vis and running lights do not need to be expensive. If you are unsure what to buy, ask another member or contact the club and we will help.

Club Kit and Racing

Members can buy official Ware Joggers kit, including race vests and training t-shirts.

Club kit is optional for training, but you will need Ware Joggers kit if you want to represent the club in races.

Racing is optional, but it is a great way to feel part of the club. We run a club championship each year and take part in local league and cross-country events.

You can view championship fixtures and race information in the Races section of the website.

Keeping Up to Date

Once you are a member, the main places to keep up to date are the members-only Facebook group and WhatsApp broadcast.

These are where we share session details, race updates, social events and club announcements.

You can also join our members-only Facebook group here: Ware Joggers Members’ Facebook Group.
